CouchConcerts offers flexibility in how shows can be set up, accommodating various scenarios and needs. Here’s an overview of the different ways to create a show:
1. Host-Initiated Show Request
When someone decides to host an artist, they create a show request for that artist.
The host selects the artist and specifies the date or a date range for the show.
The artist reviews the request and can either approve it or suggest changes.
Once the artist approves, the host must publish the show on the platform. After publishing, the host can start inviting guests.
2. Artist-Created Show
Artists have the flexibility to set up their own shows directly on CouchConcerts. These shows can take various forms:
Self-Hosted: The artist hosts the show themselves, often at their own home or studio.
Pre-Coordinated with a Host: The artist has already worked with a host to arrange a show at the host’s home or private space. The artist can then create the show on the platform, enter the host’s address, and add the host as a cohost, allowing them to invite guests and manage event details. View this article for more details.
Public Venue Show: The artist organizes a show at a public venue, such as a coffee shop, winery, or community space, and uses CouchConcerts to manage invitations, RSVPs, and promote the event. View this article for more details on public shows.
Artist-created shows go directly to the Published state, bypassing the usual approval process. This allows artists to quickly get their events live and ready for guest invitations.
3. Host Request by Artist
An artist can create a Host Request when they are looking for a host in a specific city or region for a particular date or date range.
The Artist creates a Host Request and enters city, state and a date or a date range.
Promoting: The platform automatically posts the request on the Host Request tab in the application and the requests is emailed to potential hosts in the requested area. Artists can also copy the host request link and send it directly to their contacts to increase visibility.
Response Process: Potential hosts can respond by proposing a show, specifying details like date, time, and expected attendance.
Once the artist approves the host’s proposal, the host must publish the show to finalize it and begin inviting guests.
Read the following article Host Requests. for more information on the host request process.
Show States
Shows can move through several states as they are created and managed:
Host Request: The artist is actively seeking a host for a specific location and date range.
Pending Artist Approval: The host has proposed a show or responded to a HostRequest, and it is waiting for the artist to approve.
Approved (Pending Host Publish): The artist has approved the show, but the host must publish it before guests can be invited.
Published: The show is live and available for guests to view and accept invitations. Published shows must have a specific date and time.
Canceled: The show has been canceled and is no longer active.
Note: If an artist sets up their own show (e.g., at their home or a venue), it skips the approval process and goes straight to the Published state.
